Introduction

Chain slings are used to lift products by suspending them with industrial quality chains in order to transfer material from one place to another. Chain slings are essential in any industrial or construction space, as they are efficient to handle a wide range of loading conditions.

Alloy chain slings are used widely as it offers the best toughness to durability ratio. In some condition’s slings are built of other materials to adjust to different working conditions, such as wire ropes or different kinds of textiles. The chain slings are built as heavy-duty products to withstand extreme durability conditions, extreme temperatures, and resistant to corrosion, oil, and grease.

Yet, it is important to use safely in places like steel mills, construction areas, heavy machinery shops, foundries, manufacturing plants, etc. As these places are completely involved with high load-bearing conditions. Continuous usage could result in deteriorating the quality of chain slings, which could lead to serious accidents.

Thus, it is important to schedule regular and timely scheduled maintenance checks that are used to check for any potential damages on a chain sling. These defects can be eliminated and they are sent for validation and re-tested after the repair for further usage. Regular maintenance can prolong the life of chain slings.

There are many design patterns configured in 1-leg, 2-leg, 3-leg, and 4-leg to accommodate different loading types. Even different hook patterns are offered to be used as vertical, basket, choker, or hitch and many other types for different applications.

Things to take care

A lot of conditional factors are taken into consideration before adding loads with the help of chain slings. To create perfect clamping and balanced lift, you need to ensure the following details-

Weight of the object- KITO provides tags that help to identify working load limits of the sling and helps avoid any failure due to overloading

Visual inspection- Chains should be kept on constant surveillance to look for any stretches, nicks, wear of excess allowance, and elongation. These signs are an implication of deteriorating safety and must be decommissioned from service.

Center of gravity- The load limits can be variable depending on the angle of loading. KITO sling tag guides to select the correct loading angle that will help to achieve stabilization in the center of gravity.

Angle of lifting- To avoid critical failure, the operator needs to verify the angle factor of the load. The same chain size can lift the different load capacity depending on the angle. Sling tags will tell you exactly what needs to be considered.

Surrounding conditions- Loads can be out of balance due to any misalignment or operator negligence. Suspend loads in a manner that they are spread evenly and clear the area of operation to avoid any harm to the surroundings and workers.

KITO chain slings

KITO offers high quality grade 100 chain slings. These slings go much stronger and carry much yield strength as the grades go higher, and grade 100 is one the highest of its kind. They are designed and tested for crane rigged slings to survive elongation and are flexible to accustom different loading settings.
